Traumatic false aneurysm of the axillary artery, complicating nerve palsy

Abstract

|
|
Penetrating trauma to the major artery sometimes forces a false aneurysm and it compresses the adjacent vital structures, such as nerves and muscles.
Recently, we experienced a case of traumatic false aneurysm of the left axillary artery, which was large enough to compress median, musculocutaneous, ulnar nerves and biceps brachii muscle.
We performed a vein graft after resection of false aneurysm and injured artery, and interfascicular neurolysis of median and musculocutaneous nerves also.
